Jason Zante is a Filipino-Canadian artist based in Toronto, Canada. Born in the Philippines in 1998, he received his B.DES in Graphic Design from OCAD University in 2020. With a multidisciplinary background ranging from large-scale mural installations, paintings and illustrations, his work explores the ephemeral and vibrant qualities of nature, infusing sublime landscapes with energetic and alluring colours. Working from both the imagination and personal photographs, he creates surreal worlds where the peaceful and complex coexist in rich and saturated tones.
He often employs visual metaphors to personify symbols, shapes, and plants, imbuing them with animistic meaning. At times, he also explores his Filipino roots as seen in his piece called “Bayanihan” (2022) for TD Bank’s private art collection in Toronto.
In his artistic discipline, he engages both digital and acrylic mediums to bring these interpreted and stylized worlds to life- curating select colours to influence the emotion and feeling of the artwork. His dreamlike murals that are digitally created and installed on buildings, residential lobbies, and billboards across Ontario have become his signature style. Creating a captivating and immersive experience for viewers.
He has created notable site-specific commissions such as a mural for The Four Seasons Hotel Toronto (2021), a 1200 square feet mural for Fallsview Casino Resorts in Niagara Falls (2022), and art billboards for Cadillac Fairview Toronto Eaton Centre (2021).
Zante's artwork has been collected by prestigious institutions and private collections, including TD Bank Art Collection in Toronto, Bentallgreenoak Novus Art Collection in Toronto, Cboe Global Markets private art collection in Chicago, and CIBC Pearson Airport in Ontario. His clients include Justin Bieber, Klick Health, Wattpad, The Globe & Mail, NBA Canada, Deciem, and the Government of Canada.
